Juan Jose Herrera, 35, the son of Ismael Enrique Arciniegas, 74, who was arrested and executed in China for drug trafficking, holds the urn with his ashes during his funeral mass at the San Antonio church on March 12, 2017, in Cali, department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Arciniegas was arrested in China in mid-2010 and sentenced to death after confessing that he had smuggled nearly four kilos of cocaine into the country. The Colombian government “deeply regretted” the sentence, which was carried out despite repeated requests for mercy and commutation of the death penalty.
